What Is a Walk-In Shower?
It is a shower you step straight into, over a low threshold instead of a tall tub wall.
Each one is a complete acrylic shower system from Luxury Bath. You get a new shower pan, seamless wall panels and matching trim, all made to your measurements.
The walls go up in large panels, not rows of small tiles. That means no grout to seal, stain or scrub. You can finish the opening with a glass door, a curtain rod or an open entry.

Plan the shower around the way you like to wash. Every option below comes from the Luxury Bath accessory line.
-
Low threshold entry
Step in over a low lip, not a tub wall. A barrier-free shower pan is also offered for the lowest entry we have.
-
Built-in seat
A molded seat gives you a place to sit or rest a foot. It blends into the walls in a matching color.
-
Grab bars
Grab bars help reduce the risk of slips and falls. Your designer places them where your hands reach without a stretch.
-
Shelves, caddy and soap dish
Corner shelves, a built-in shower caddy and a soap dish keep bottles up off the floor and within reach.
-
Handheld shower
Pick a handheld wand, a rain head or a dial massage setting. A handheld shower also makes rinsing the walls quick.
-
Microban protection
Microban is part of the acrylic itself. It helps fight stain and odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew on the surface.
Walk-In Shower Styles and Colors
Grout-free does not have to mean plain. The wall panels come in many colors and tile looks.
The Luxury Bath Impressions series has the look of real ceramic tile with none of the upkeep. Patterns include subway tile, herringbone, hexagon and chevron. Colors run from bright white to travertine and soft stone looks.
Door frames, rods and trim come in chrome, brushed nickel, matte black or oil rubbed bronze. Your designer brings samples to your home, so you can see them in your own light.

This style suits people who shower every day and want it to feel easy. These are good reasons to ask about one.
- You never use your bathtub anymore
- Climbing over a tub wall feels unsteady
- You want a seat and grab bars in the shower
- You plan on aging in place at home
- You are tired of scrubbing tile grout
- You want a brighter, more open bathroom
A low entry also helps anyone in the family with limited mobility. Still love a long bath? Compare it with a walk-in tub before you decide.
Walk-In Shower or a Tub and Shower Combo?
Both can look great in the same space. The right one depends on who uses the bathroom.
Low-step shower
Best if everyone showers
- Low threshold, no tub wall to climb
- Room for a seat and grab bars
- Fits the space of your existing tub
- Glass door, rod or open entry
Tub and shower combo
Best if someone still takes baths
- Keeps a tub for soaking or bathing kids
- A new acrylic tub with matching walls
- Sliding glass doors or a curtain rod
- Same footprint as your old tub
Some homes keep one tub in the house and turn a second one into a shower. Your designer can help you plan both.

What Affects Walk-In Shower Cost?
The price comes down to your space and the options you pick.
We do not list prices online. Every bathroom is a little different, so we measure first. These are the main things that move the price.
- The size and shape of the shower, such as a neo-angle corner
- A standard shower pan or a barrier-free pan
- The wall panel pattern and color
- Extras like a seat, grab bars, shelves or a glass door
- Plumbing that has to move, or damage found under the old unit
Your designer puts every option and its price in writing at your free consultation. You can also ask about payment options at the same visit.

Walk-In Showers Across the Spokane Area
We install these showers in homes across Spokane County. Many houses here were built long before low-entry showers were common, so the only full bath often has a narrow tub. That space can usually become a roomy shower, and our tub-to-shower conversion page shows how.

Walk-In Shower Questions
Still have one we did not answer? Call (509) 555-0142.
How big does a bathroom need to be for a walk-in shower?
Most go in the space an old tub or shower uses now. Neo-angle pans fit corners in smaller rooms. Your designer measures and tells you what fits before you choose anything.
How low is the step into the shower?
A standard shower pan has a low threshold, far lower than the side of a tub. A barrier-free pan lowers the entry even more. Your designer can show you both at your consultation.
Can I have a seat and grab bars in my new shower?
Yes. A built-in seat, grab bars, corner shelves and a soap dish can all be part of your shower. Your designer places each one to suit your height and the way you move.
Do I need a glass door on a low-entry shower?
No. You can pick a framed or frameless glass door, a curtain rod, or an open entry in some layouts. Glass comes in clear, rain and frosted finishes. See our glass shower door options.
Can my old bathtub become a step-in shower?
Yes. The new shower is made to fit the space your tub uses now, so there is no major remodel. Read more about tub-to-shower conversions.
What does a walk-in shower cost?
The price depends on the size, the pan, the wall pattern and the extras you add. We measure your real bathroom and give you a written price at a free in-home consultation. There is no charge for the visit.
How do I clean acrylic shower walls?
Mild soap, warm water and a soft cloth handle most cleaning. White vinegar and water help with mineral spots. Skip scouring pads and harsh cleaners, since they can dull the surface.
